Wellons, Inc. is an industry leader in Renewable Energy Products and Lumber Dry Kilns for the wood products industry for over 40 years. As a company providing build to order engineering design, manufacturing, construction and equipment services for multiple industries, the Wellons Engineering department offers a unique opportunity for a Senior Engineering Manager.

Wellons is seeking a high level manager to lead the design team in the development of multiple projects with a 6 to 24 month design cycle. Applicant must be able to coordinate structural, mechanical, piping and electrical design efforts meeting design schedules that drive manufacturing and field installation build schedules.

The applicant must have a positive attitude, be able to work in a team environment, have excellent written and verbal skills, be a motivated self-starter and work well in a high energy atmosphere overseeing and managing the engineering group and the combined project schedule of open jobs. Travel to project sites may be required as needed.

The Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for:

  • Supervision for design of boiler plant and cogeneration plants.
  • Direct engineers and designers to assure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Work actively on standardization of equipment and processes for Wellons products.
  • Define and allocate resources to meet contractual milestones and deadlines.
  • Identify schedule constraints and define preventive and corrective actions.
  • Maintain the schedule during the complete project lifecycle.
Required Skills:
  • MUST BE AN “EXPERIENCED MANGER” WITH GOOD PEOPLE SKILLS AND ABLE TO MANAGE THE WORK FLOW FOR MULTIPLE PROJECTS.
  • Technically competent engineer with at least 15 years of combined experience in design of “heavy equipment” and project management.
  • Proven history of successful supervision of engineers and designers.
  • Proficient in application of engineering procedures and best practices to manage ordinary business and multidisciplinary Turn-Key contracts.
  • Excellent computer skills including good knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor, MS Office and general engineering software.
  • Communication with internal and external customers.
Desired Experience:
  • Process and equipment design for biomass handling and combustion.
  • Experience in design of cogeneration plants and related equipment INLCUDING structural, piping and mechanical.
  • Proficient in application of ASME boiler and pressure vessel code as well as power and process piping applications.
  • Past exposure to activities and procedures to engineering document management and engineering related product life cycle management and applicable software.
  • Experience with International projects.
